“With every shift of your trunk, change in your feet, head, hands, arms, or tone of voice, you are sending messages to the world about who you are, how you feel, and what you value. As an actor, it is desirable to develop a dynamic alignment that doesn’t pigeonhole you as one character into perpetuity, but rather one that says:
‘I am present.  I have stamina.  I am a balanced individual.  I am ready to transform.’”
- Barbara Adrian, Actor Training the Laban Way

Why Music Lessons?

There are many proven benefits to learning how to read music and play musical instruments.  Music is math and language, In addition to improving confidence, playing music fosters cooperation, improves brain function, enhances fine motor skills, promotes creativity, and stimulates the visual, auditory, and motor cortices.   "Playing music is the brain's equivalent to a full body workout."

Piano Lessons

Piano lessons are available to students of any age, provided they can focus attention fairly well for 30 minutes.  Initially, small electric keyboards may be utilized while learning basic skills,  With continued interest and study, a more substantial (full 88-key) keyboard will be necessary to obtain maximum results.  Sheet music will be provided up front, with required music purchases possible upon advancement.

Voice Lessons

Fundamental voice technique is available for students of any age.  There is a huge link between breath movement, posture, and proper vocal technique.  Please wear comfortable clothing, and expect a physical experience with (respectful) anatomical adjustments.  Also, expect to make weird noises.  Lots of them. Initially, sheet music will be provided, with required music purchases possible upon advancement. Please bring a recording device (Sound Memo on iPhone works great!) to facilitate practice between lessons.
